It was in the late 1980’s that the author devised and promoted the Itchen Way long distance footpath with financial support from Hampshire County Council and Eastleigh Borough Council towards waymarking. Three thousand copies of “Exploring the Itchen Way” (published in 1990 ISBN 1-85306-083-6) were sold.

This earlier book suggested walking it in a series of circular walks taking in some of the surrounding countryside. This second booklet is for those wishing to do the long distance walk as a linear path. If you have a GPS this should be all you require, if not you will need the OS Explorer Maps for the area referred to in the penultimate page.
